Storming Heaven

Storming Heaven is dedicated to the radical and transformative politics of Marxism in a non-sectarian manner and seeks to include as many traditions of Marxism as possible, as well as related class struggle movements.

The site administrator, Danielle Ní Dhighe, is a Marxist who comes from a DeLeonist background. She is currently a member of the Irish Republican Socialist Movement and is a former member of the Socialist Labor Party of America.

The source of this website's name is Karl Marx's Letter to Dr. Kugelmann Concerning the Paris Commune, dated 12 April 1871, in which Marx said the Paris workers were "storming heaven".

This website is still under construction, so please excuse the mess.

"Socialism is that social system under which the necessaries of production are owned, controlled, and administered by the people, for the people, and under which, accordingly, the cause of political and economic despotism having been abolished, class rule is at end. That is socialism, nothing short of that." - Daniel De Leon

"Fighting for freedom is not letting your leaders think for you and decide, and following obediently behind them, or from time to time scolding them. Fighting for freedom is partaking to the full of ones capacity, thinking and deciding for oneself, taking all the responsibilities as a self-relying individual amidst equal comrades. It is true that to think for oneself, to think out what is true and right, with a head dulled by fatigue, is the hardest, the most difficult task; it is much harder than to pay and to obey. But it is the only way to freedom. To be liberated by others, whose leadership is the essential part of the liberation, means the getting of new masters instead of the old ones." - Anton Pannekoek

"It should and must at once undertake socialist measures in the most energetic, unyielding and unhesitant fashion, in other words, exercise a dictatorship, but a dictatorship of the class, not of a party or of a clique -- dictatorship of the class, that means in the broadest possible form on the basis of the most active, unlimited participation of the mass of the people, of unlimited democracy."

"The time of surprise attacks, of revolutions, carried through by small conscious minorities at the head of unconscious masses, is past. Where it is a question of a complete transformation of the social organization, the masses themselves must also be in it, must themselves already have grasped what is at stake, what they are going in for with body and soul." - Frederick Engels

"It is stated in the Communist Manifesto that the emancipation of the working class can only be the work of the working class itself and it understands by the working class not a party executive of seven or twelve but the enlightened mass of the proletariat in person. Every step forward in the struggle for emancipation of the working class must at the same time mean a growing intellectual independence of its mass, its growing self-activity, self-determination and initiative." - Rosa Luxemburg
